Bangladesh approves LOI to procure 500 megawatt power from Nepal



KATHMANDU: The Bangladesh government has endorsed the Letter of Intent (LOI) to procure 500 megawatt electricity from Nepal.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Power Development Board has sent a commitment letter to project builder GMR stating that it would procure 500 megawatt electricity.

Talking to journalists on Sunday, Project Integration Head Rajiv Mishra said a Letter of Intent (LoI) has been approved by the Bangladesh government.

GMR, an Indian company, is generating 900 megawatt electricity from Upper Karnali Hydropower Project.

The cabinet of Bangladesh government had endorsed a proposal to procure electricity from Nepal on December 21 last year.
