KATHMANDU: A partial lunar eclipse is occurring on Friday night.  It will begin at 10:22 pm and end at 2:27 am on January 11.

The lunar eclipse will  be seen from Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia, according to astronomers.

The lower portion of the moon will track deep into the Earth’s outer shadow, and the natural satellite’s southern limb will miss the Earth’s umbra by nearly 10% of the moon’s diameter.

Aside from this lunar eclipse, a total of three lunar eclipses will occur in 2020. The second lunar eclipse will occur on June 5, third on July 5 and the fourth on will occur on November 30.
