People’s representatives have crucial role to contain pandemic: Upper House Chair



GODAVARI: National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsena has said that the people’s representatives have an important role in the prevention and control of the coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing an interaction program on ‘Role of Members of Parliament for Effective Communication in the Context of COVID-19 Pandemic and Risk’ organized in Dhangadhi, Kailali district today, he said the people’s representatives have a very important role to play in making the people aware about the pandemic and its risks.

The Upper House Chair also called on the parliamentarians to have close relations with citizens at times of difficulties like at present. He stressed that the three tiers of the government, the political parties and various organizations should work in tandem and more vigorously for prevention and control of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chair Timilsena on the occasion also urged the public to take precaution and adopt health safety protocols for prevention and containment of the coronavirus infection, saying the positive role of all was necessary for fighting against this global pandemic.

He also called on the lawmakers and people’s representatives to foil the rumors and false information related to coronavirus pandemic.
