Prachanda mulls summoning Secretariat meeting as PM Oli refuses to budge

KATHMANDU: Executive Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda is preparing to summon a formal meeting of the Secretarial after PM KP Oli paid no heed to the demand to call the meeting.

According to a source close to Prachanda, Prachanda is preparing to hold a meeting on Tuesday at 4 pm.

“The informal meeting has already taken place. PM Oli refused to call the meeting even after a written letter with the request was handed over,” the source stated.

It should be noted that NCP leaders who reached Baluwatar on Saturday afternoon with a letter demanding an immediate meeting of the Secretariat, however, returned empty-handed failing to convince Prime Minister Oli.

No agreement was reached between PM Oli and the disgruntled faction led by Prachanda on convening the meeting of the nine-member Secretariat pushing further uncertainty within the party.
