Sinohydro company workers into agitation



TANAHU: The ongoing work of the powerhouse of the Tanahu Hydropower Project has been affected.

The power house of the 140 MW project is based in Jhaputar in ward no. 1 of Rishing rural municipality of the district.

The work has come to a standstill after the workers of the contractor company, Sinohydro started an agitation demanding PCR test of all the workers.

The agitation began on Friday after one of the workers tested positive to Coronavirus, according to chief of the Tanahu Hydel Project Achyut Ghimire.

A discussion is being held today to come to an agreement in presence of local people’s representatives, contractor company and worker representatives, said Ghimire.

The company is of the view that the tests could be carried out based on contact tracing, however the workers have demanded that all be tested including the family members of the workers. RSS
