Kathmandu Valley reports record high spike in COVID-19 cases

572 cases in Valley



KATHMANDU: As many as 572 persons have been infected from COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 495 persons in Kathmandu, 34 persons in Bhaktapur and 43 persons in Lalitpur have been tested positive for the pandemic virus.

Of the new cases, 495 cases, 147 females and 348 males, were detected in Kathmandu, 34 cases, 16 females and 22 males, were detected in Bhaktapur and 43 cases, 20 females and 23 males were detected in Lalitpur.

 Similarly, Nepal has confirmed 1,246 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 50,465 with the new cases.

He added that 11,144 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently, 14,448 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 8,010 are in institutional isolation and 6,438 in home isolation.

A total 5,806 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile,1,818 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.

So far,  35,700 people have been discharged across the country after recovery.

According to the Ministry, 5 people lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 317.
