The encounter between Dubey and Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) broke out when the former tried to escape upon reaching Kanpur.

Vikas suffered some bullets shots and later succumbed to his injuries. Dubey has officially been declared dead, Indian media reports have said.
