Samajbadi Party warns lawmaker Giri to withdraw amendment proposal or face consequences

KATHMANDU: The Samajbadi Party has warned its lawmaker Sarita Giri to withdraw the amendment on the constitution amendment bill or face action.

Giri had earlier lodged an amendment on the bill introduced by the government claiming that the territories of Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura, which has been incorporated in Nepal;s revised political and administrative map be removed.

Lawmaker Giri has been claiming that the source and evidence have yet to be revealed.

The amendment bill brought to change the coat of arms in Schedule-3 of the Constitution as per Article 9(2) to implement the new map has been supported by all the political parties, including the Samajbadi Party.

Party’s chief whip Uma Shankar Argariya has instructed lawmaker Giri to withdraw the amendment proposal or face consequences.

Giri has lodged an amendment demanding that the clause (2) should be removed from the amendment bill.

Lawmaker Giri, who was born in India, is a naturalized Nepali citizen.
