KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has drawn the government’s attention towards the coronavirus crisis labelling the latter’s efforts as inadequate.

The party has urged the government to make certain concrete steps to ensure control of the pandemic.

Party leaders met with Prime Minister KP Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar and urged him to take important decisions regarding the pandemic.

The party leaders led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel urged the government to review the short and long-term effects of the pandemic, and to take immediate and concrete actions required to deal with the situation.

The leaders, in a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, also criticized the lack of preparedness on the part of the government, and its response to the crisis as the number of cases has been on a rise in the past few weeks.

The party has also urged the government to revise its policy of sending quarantined people coming to Nepal from India to their homes without PCR tests for coronavirus if they did not show symptoms of coronavirus infection.

The NC has also demanded that the government ensured basic standard of quarantine facilities.
