Four Chinese nationals assaulting cops to be charged with indecent behavior

KATHMANDU: Police will be charging four Chinese nationals involved in attacking security personnel in front of Singha Durbar, the main administrative center of Nepal, with indecent behavior.

A clash had broken out between Chinese nationals and police on Friday after a group of Chinese nationals, who were staging a sit-in in front of Singha Durbar demanding that they be allowed to go back to their country, tried to enter the premises.

During the scuffle, Chinese nationals had attacked security personnel injuring DSP Hari Basnet.

Of the 47 arrested, 42 were released on Friday night, said SP Somendra Rathore at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

He said that four Chinese nationals will be charged with indecent behavior for assaulting the cops deployed.

Police had initially tried to remove the protesters holding placards such as ‘I want to go home’ and ‘No money, need to go home’ from the restricted area.

During the scuffle, a Chinese national had dragged a policeman by holding his uniform. Then the dispute had escalated. The Chinese nationals had attacked the cops who came to disperse them.

The Chinese nationals had attacked despite the police exercising restraint. The law enforcement agency was compelled to use force after they started pulling the police officer’s uniform.

They had attacked policemen after police baton-charged a Chinese woman. Police had later managed to get hold of them.
