KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that the government should take an immediate step in regard to a road built by India unilaterally along with the Nepali territory.

Shrestha who is also the former Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed his concern over the move of the Indian government.

The road built on Nepal’s western border area was captured by India which it had already accepted as the ‘disputed land’, he said.

In his tweet, he said, ”I strongly condemn the report that the road was constructed along with the Nepali land and inaugurated on Friday.

” He viewed that the government should immediately make a response against the encroachment. India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday expressed his happiness for the inauguration of the link road from Lipulek to Manasarovar which as he said would ease Indian pilgrimages’ journey towards the Manasoravar.

The road reaches Manasoravar in Tibet, the autonomous state of China, via Nepali territory Limpiyadhura, Lipulek, and Kalapani in Darchula. But the move has taken the border dispute (Lipulek Kalapani) between the two countries to a new phase.
