Student leaders protesting in front of Indian Embassy arrested



KATHMANDU: Student leaders associated with All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), a student wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), have been arrested on Saturday.

The law enforcement agency rounded up 20 student leaders while demonstrating in front of the Indian Embassy after India inaugurated a road to connect Mansarobar of Tibet, China, via Kalapani Lipulekh area which falls in Nepali territory.

India completed the 80 km stretch connecting Ghatiabgarh and Lipulekh on April 17.

Police have taken 20 students under its control including AANFSU former Secretary Sudesh Parajuli, Yashu Lama, Mahesh Shrestha, Ashok Thapa, Uttar Khadka, Prem Pradhan, Nusan Lamichhane and Binod Khuwa.

They have been taken to Mahendra Police Club.
