KATHMANDU: The government today registered a bill at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in a bid to amend the Army Act.

The bill, if endorsed as it is, will pave the way for the Nepal Army to establish its own intelligence unit.

Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokhrel submitted the bill at the Secretariat that proposes setting up of an army intelligence service aimed at ‘strengthening the army’s defense competence’.

According to Minister Pokhrel, several militaries in the world have their own intelligence bodies. Therefore, it has been deemed necessary in Nepal as well.
