WorldLink partners with Facebook Connectivity for Wi-Fi services in Nepal

KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications Ltd., the largest internet service provider (ISP) in Nepal, has announced a partnership with Facebook Connectivity to provide fast, affordable and reliable Wi-Fi service to its users.

Through this partnership, WorldLink is using Facebook Connectivity’s Express Wi-Fi platform to build, operate and grow WorldLink’s existing Wi-Fi operations in Nepal.

Express Wi-Fi enables WorldLink to strengthen and support 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots out of its existing 10,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across Nepal.

This partnership has already served more than half a million users and will enable WorldLink to sustainably expand public Wi-Fi services across Nepal.

“WorldLink has been a pioneer in deploying public Wi-Fi to bridge the digital divide by enabling internet access to users across Nepal, including in some of the most remote areas. The partnership with Facebook and the Express Wi-Fi deployment will give a tremendous boost to this CSR initiative from WorldLink and will help the under-connected and underprivileged to leverage the benefits of internet,” said Mr. Dileep Agrawal, Managing Director, WorldLink.

“The Express Wi-Fi platform will improve our public Wi-Fi service and contribute to our vision to connect everyone, anywhere, all the time with fast, reliable and affordable internet services.”

“High quality internet access is an essential ingredient to ensuring access to jobs, education, healthcare and more,” said Karan Khara, Director – Mobile Partnerships at Facebook.

“With the Express Wi-Fi platform, WorldLink is able to sustainably expand its Wi-Fi coverage in Nepal, enabling more people to get online. We look forward to our continued partnership.”
