Agriculture minister meets UNICEF Nepal representative to discuss development cooperation



KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Geeta Chaudhary held a courtesy meeting with UNICEF Nepal Representative Alice Akunga on Friday to discuss ongoing development cooperation and future collaboration.

According to the ministry, the two discussed UNICEF’s contribution as a trusted development partner in improving the lives of children and women across Nepal.

Minister Chaudhary expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s longstanding partnership with Nepal and its continued support through various nationwide programmes. She said UNICEF’s country programme priorities are well aligned with Nepal’s development agenda.

The minister also briefed Akunga on the government’s 100-point reform programme aimed at promoting good governance, inclusive economic growth, quality public service delivery and institutional strengthening. She noted that the reform package also includes measures in the health and education sectors.

The ministry said the meeting also focused on strengthening existing cooperation and enhancing coordination between the Government of Nepal and UNICEF in areas of mutual interest.
