1,081 diagnosed COVID-19 positive, Nepal’s caseload hits 49,219

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 1,081 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 49,219 with the new cases.

He added that 11,167 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently, 15,025 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 7,988 are in institutional isolation and 7,037 in home isolation.

A total 5,480 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile, 918 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.

So far, 33,882 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate now stands at 68.8 percent.

According to the Ministry, six people lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 312.
