Buddha Tourism Promotion Committee formed including Sanduk Ruit



KATHMANDU:Nepal Tourism Board has formed a Buddha Tourism Promotion Committee with the aim of promoting and disseminating the religious, archeological and historical heritage related to Lumbini and Buddha and Buddhism.

The committee has been formed under the leadership and coordination of Chief Executive Officer of NTB, Dr Dhananjay Regmi.

Tourism entrepreneur Bikram Pandey, Ambika Shrestha, Karna Shakya, Ramesh Dhungel to Ramon Magsaysay Award winner and internationally renowned eye specialist Dr. Sanduk Ruit are in the newly-formed committee.

The committee will study, discuss and research other sites related to Buddha such as: Tilaurakot, Ramgram, Devdaha, Kudan, Gotihawa, Niglihawa.

In addition, it is aimed to promote Padmasambhava Marg, Greater Lumbini Area, Lumbini Circuit, Buddhist Circuit and other important paths and circuits.

As the construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport under construction in Bhairahawa has reached its final stage, the committee will also plan to take initiative to bring more than one billion Buddhist and peace-loving tourists from different countries to the newly constructed international airport as well as Lumbini by land.

The committee aims to give necessary suggestions to the concerned bodies for the development and beautification of the Lumbini area with a sense of peace, religious sentiment and holiness.

“The committee is expected to work for the development and promotion of the Lumbini region and all Buddhism, culture and philosophy, ”the statement said.
