Literary links of Dumfries and Galloway aim to aid post-pandemic recovery

LONDON: Popular works of fiction or literature will play a role in the post-pandemic recovery of Scotland’s south west.

The Scotland’s national book town-based Wigtown Festival Company leads efforts to make the region a center for literary tourism.

The project, which is said to run for a year is supporting initiatives across the area and aims at allowing organizations and businesses to make the most of links to famous poets and writers.

Meanwhile, connections to JM Barrie, Robert Burns, and SR Crockett could also be exploited, reports said.

Similarly, The Mill on the Fleet and In Gatehouse of Fleet visitor center also intends to create activities from trails to specialist tours.

According to Ken Smyth, who chairs the center, the area’s links to famous writers can help in attracting more people.
