Deuba extends best wishes on International Women’s Day

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes on the occasion of International Women’s Day today.

Issuing a press statement today, President Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, has stated that Nepal was still facing the spate of incidents of violence against women, discrimination and exploitation so that awareness campaign was essential to lessen such incidents.

He added the incidents of violence and exploitation were a major threat to economic progress along with democracy and people’s sovereignty.

The press statement further reads that he was confident that the day will help lessen the incidents of violence against (VAW) adding that the NC expects an end to all kinds of violence and inequalities.

President Deuba extended the honor to those women who sacrificed their lives in different political and social movements.

He further expected the decisive roles of women in protecting democratic norms and values in the days ahead.
