KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has remarked that questions have been raised on constitutional autonomy of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
Making his view public on the filing of a case on the Lalita Niwas land grab case, Koirala condemned the act of the constitutional anti-graft body of implicating some people and granting immunity to others involved in the scam.
“Some were given immunity arguing to be a policy-level decision of Cabinet and others on a condition of returning lands. These double standards have raised questions on the credibility and constitutional autonomy of CIAA,” Koirala said.
He added that the latest move of the constitutional anti-graft body will be unfortunate for democracy and the country.
