KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker and Former Minister Gagan Thapa has urged Prime Minister KP Oli to hold immediate discussions to tackle the coronavirus crisis.
Thapa, who is currently under isolation after diagnosed coronavirus positive, wrote on social media that the coronavirus crisis is not a priority for the prime minister.
“On one hand, the COVID-19 tests are declining outside Kathmandu Valley, but people’s movement across the country is increasing with the festive season nearing,” Thapa said, “On the other hand, there are no beds for COVID-19 patients in Valley. Everyone is bewildered.”
He said that the Prime Minister had ignored his suggestion to prepare in advance to prevent the current situation from happening.
“PM had no time to think about the necessary preparations. Time, resources, and support were enough, but we have reached a complicated stage due to your (PM) thinking and style. We could have prevented it, but now it’s hard to overcome the crisis,” he added.
He also said that the Prime Minister was busy rearranging the Cabinet than focusing on tacking the pandemic.’
