Nepal’s reports 902 new cases, COVID-19 tally jumps to 48,138

2,287 discharged in last 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 902 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 48,138 with the new cases.

He added that 10,611 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently, 14,868 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 8.053 are in institutional isolation and 6,815 in home isolation.

A total 5,310 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile, 2,287 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.

So far, 32,964 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate now stands at 68 percent.

According to the Ministry, six people including lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 306.
