Landslide obstructs Benighat-Arughat road section

GORKHA: The Benighat-Arughat road section has been blocked by a landslide that occurred at Maleodaar of Gandaki rural municipality-8 in Gorkha district.

The landslide occurred this morning and completely damaged a section of the road, the District Police Office Gorkha said.

Gandaki rural municipality’s Ward No 8 chair Ram Prasad Lamichhane said a massive landslide that took place at a place some one kilometer east of Benighat Bazaar has washed away a section of the road.

He said vehicles plying on the road section via Benighat have been stranded and they were looking for a dozer and excavator to remove the landslide debris and repair the damaged road section.

Lamichhane said it will take some time to remove the debris and repair the road.
