Only two SIM cards per person



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to distribute only two mobile SIM cards per person.

The government has dispatched a circulation to mobile service providers urging the latter to implement the decision accordingly.

Earlier, the government had not set any limit on the number of SIM cards distribution.

It is learnt that the government instructed the mobile service providers to this effect after the number of criminal activities went up misusing mobile SIM cards of late.

Now a person can get only two SIM cards each of Nepal Telecom, Ncell and Smart Cell in their name.

Nepal Telecom Authority has written a letter to the service providers instructing them to strictly implement this provision.

According to NTA spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal, the new arrangement has been made in line with the direction of the Home Ministry.

The Home Ministry has directed the mobile service providers to strictly comply witth the new provison after the incidents of cyber crimes and other criminal activities increased by misusing  SIM cards.
