COVID-19 infects over 55,000 in America in a single day



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 992 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 133, 971.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 55, 262 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 3,096,904 so far.

Currently, 1,608, 070 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 15, 371 are critical.  Meanwhile, 1,354, 863 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 32, 292 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 15,352 and 8, 213 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.
