Discussion on constitution amendment bill to begin Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The constitution amendment bill will be discussed at the meeting of Parliament from Tuesday.

A proposal to consider the bill will be tabled in the House of Representatives by Minister for Law Shivamaya Tumbahamphe, as per the probable business schedule made public by the Parliament Secretariat.

The meeting has been slated for 11 am tomorrow.

The bill is expected to be discussed in the parliament seven days after it is made public for public information as per the provision.

Minister Tumbahamphe had tabled the bill to amend Schedule 3 related to Article 9 (2) of the Constitution for including an updated map that includes Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh and Kalapani on May 31.

With the main opposition party supporting the bill, it will get two-third majority held mandatory for such amendment.

The government had registered a bill for the amendment of the constitution at the Federal Parliament’s Secretariat to make room for the change in the map used in the national emblem.
