KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has concluded that the government has failed to control coronavirus.

The failure to supply adequate health supplies, widespread corruption in the procurement of health supplies, lack of systematic quarantine, lack of kits to test the coronavirus of those in quarantine are some of the reasons for the government’s failure, the party stated.

The central members of the party have also demanded the formation of a parliamentary inquiry into the Rs 10 billion said to be spent by the government for controlling the coronavirus and irregularities in the health sector.

The meeting of the Central Working Committee of the party held on Monday has also decided to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister to draw the government’s attention to the initiatives that should be taken to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The meeting decided to hand over a memorandum to the Prime Minister under the leadership of senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel stating that the government has not been able to do anything except lockdown.
