KATHMANDU: As many as 245 Nepali nationals have been infected by the novel coronavirus in Bahrain so far.

The Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain said as many as 88 Nepali migrant workers tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday and Monday, and are undergoing treatment. Their condition is normal, according to the embassy.

The Embassy, last week, had said 157 Nepali workers had tested positive for the virus since its outbreak.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has announced to grant amnesty to the undocumented Nepali migrant workers in the country from April 7 to December 31, 2020 — either to be legally registered or to leave the country.

Likewise, the Nepali Embassy has also asked Nepalis in Bahrain to contact the Embassy.
