MAKWANPUR: A man died while the other sustained injuries after being struck by lightning at Bhimphedi in the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Bijaya Syangtan, 23, of Bhimphedi rural municipality, Chyaukhola.

According to police, Sanbina Syangtan, 22, the wife of Bijaya, has sustained injuries.   She is undergoing treatment at a nearby clinic.

According to the record maintained by the District Police Office, 50 to 60 people die due to lightning strikes in Makwanpur, ever year.
