Kathmandu Valley witnessing rain since early today



KATHMANDU: Light to moderate rain is occurring in the Kathmandu Valley since early Saturday. Commuters are seen walking with umbrellas and motorcyclists in raincoats.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted partly to generally cloudy weather throughout the country with chances of rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty wind at many places due to the influence of the westerly and local winds on Saturday.

Meteorologist Barun Paudel said there is possibility of rain along with thunder, lightning and high winds taking place throughout the country due to the influence of the westerly wind and the moisture-laden air along with the effect of the local wind.

“Precipitation accompanied by gusty wind, thunder, lightning and hailstone will likely to occur throughout the country towards the afternoon today”, he said.

The weather will be partly to generally cloudy in the eastern hilly region with the possibility of brief rain at one or two places of the hilly region.

Likewise, the Division has issued a warning for the next 24 hours, urging for adopting precaution given the possibility of rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, gusty winds and hailstone occurring at some places of the country as well as considering the chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of high hilly and mountainous regions.
