Rautahat bomb case: Alam’s brother Mahatab arrested in India



KATHMANDU: Mohammad Mahatab Alam, younger brother of Nepali Congress (NC) leader Mohammad Aftab Alam has been arrested from Bihar’s Motihari, police said.

Nepal Police arrested Alam from Bihar with the help of Indian police.

NC leader Mohammad Aftab Alam was accused in the Rautahat bomb explosion and group murder case.

It may be recalled that the Aftab Alam was sent to the prison by the Rautahat District Court on November 15, 2019 during the trial of the case.

Ten persons including Alam, his younger brother Mahatab, Sheikh Bhadai, Mohammad Mobin Alam, Sheikh Fazal-e-Haq, Sagir Alam, Sheikh Seraj, Gauri Shankar Sah, Sheikh Malkar, and Badri Sahani were charged of the murder in the case.

In the Rautahat case, two people were killed and more than one dozen people were injured in the bomb explosion at Pharhadawa of Rautahat on April 9, 2008.
