Nepal witnesses first death of journalist from COVID-19

KAPILVASTU: A journalist has died due to the coronavirus infection for the first time in Nepal.

The man, who had been active in journalism in Kapilvastu for more than two decades, succumbed to the pandemic on Monday afternoon.

Kumar Thapa, Coronavirus Liaison Officer at the District Health Office, Kapilvastu, told Khabarhub that the coronavirus was confirmed on the man after death.

According to Thapa, the 60-year-old journalist died at Kapilvastu Hospital around 2 pm today, and his test report came positive this evening.

He also had diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney-related ailments.
