India 2nd largest country with over 4.2 mln COVID-19 cases

KATHMANDU: India has exceeded Brazil becoming the second largest country  in terms of coronavirus infection cases in the world as of Monday morning.

With over 4.2 million cases in India, it has surpassed Brazil with more than 65,000 cases until the filing of this news.

Meanwhile, India has set a record in the highest single-day infection cases with over 91,000.

Earlier on Sunday, 90,600 single day cases were recorded while the the number rose to 91,723 on Monday.

With this, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 4,202,562 across India.

Among those infected, 3,247,297 COVID-19 patients have returned home after recovery while 883,578 are undergoing treatment at varirous hospitals and isolation centers.

Similarly, the number of deaths from coronavirus has exceeded 71,000. With 1,008 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death tally has reached 71,687, according to Worldometer.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China in last December, the coronavirus has killed 887,267 and infected 27,281,934 people across the world.
