NCC office-bearers, Nepali envoy Pandey discuss Nepal-China trade

KATHMANDU: Nepali Ambassador to China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and office-bearers of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) held a meet on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Chamber President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha expressed the view that initiatives should be taken to operate both the Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi checkpoints smoothly by simplifying the complexities of importing and exporting goods.

China has provided entry facility at zero tariff rates on the import of more than 8,000 Nepali products but there is a provision that 40 percent value addition must be completed to get such facility, he said.

He urged Ambassador Pandey to take initiative to reduce the rate as it is difficult to fulfill the provision in some commodities.

Chairman Shrestha requested to take initiative for easy and simple entry of agricultural and livestock goods to the Chinese market.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce Tribhuvandhar Tuladhar urged to promote religious and cultural tourists from China.

Ambassador Pandey said that he would seriously consider the suggestions received from the Chamber and try his best for facilitation.

The Chamber’s team included senior vice president Rajendra Malla, Vice President Kamlesh Agrawal and Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce president Tuladhar among others.
