SP expels lawmaker Sarita Giri from party and House

KATHMANDU: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has expelled its lawmaker Sarita Giri both from the party and the Parliament.

A meeting of the party’s office bearers on Tuesday expelled lawmaker Giri on the recommendation of the task force, which had recommended to dismiss her from the post of lawmaker as well as from the party membership.

She has been alleged for violating the party whip on the Constitution amendment bill brought to implement the revised map of Nepal.

The Samajbadi Party had earlier formed a task force under its General Secretary Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav with members Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rai and Sushila Shrestha to suggest whether she should be expelled or not.

The party will now send a letter to the Election Commission informing the party’s move.

It should be recalled that lawmaker Giri had filed an amendment proposal against the Constitution amendment bill that was brought to implement the revised political map of Nepal.

She has been adamant to her stance that Nepal lacks evidences to establish that Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Lekh belongs to Nepal.
