Kathmandu Valley turning into coronavirus hotspot with 239 cases



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley seems turning into a coronavirus hotspot of late as the Valley saw 54 new cases on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 54 samples tested at different labs in the Valley came out with COVID-19 positive result.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population shared that new 10 cases from Bhaktapur, 23 from Kathmandu and 20 from Lalitpur are found coronavirus positive.

With this the number of coronavirus cases has reached 161 cases in Kathmandu, 39 in Lalitpur and 39 in Bhaktapur, taking the total number of cases to 239.

Their swabs were tested in Patan Hospital laboratory.

Similarly, one swab result of Maharajgunj based TU Teaching Hospital also showed a person from Kathmandu coronavirus positive.

The number of cases in the Valley is increasing remarkably after the relaxation of the lockdown.

Although the lockdown is said to be effective till July 22, the crowds sans masks are noticed in the streets of Kathmandu.
