All-party consensus forged in Province-1 to fight back COVID-19



JANAKPUR: The major political parties in Province-1 have forged consensus on helping the state government in the full implementation of the lockdown and in its other efforts to combat the coronavirus menace.

The parties have urged the government to make necessary arrangements to regularise the health services at the government hospitals, teaching hospitals, and other hospitals as well.

They have called upon the hospitals and the health workers also to pay attention to the health of the general public in the present situation of COVID-19 pandemic.

The political parties also decided to request the government and the State-1 citizens for the effective implementation of the lockdown.

Likewise, the parties have agreed to maintain uniformity in the distribution of relief materials to the workers, daily wagers and the economically vulnerable sections, while urging the state government to ensure the smooth supply of daily essentials.

The government is urged to distribute the relief through the political mechanism and in the coordination of the local administration and the local levels.

Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Province-1 committee chair Devraj Ghimire, Nepali Congress Morang District president Dig Bahadur Limbu and State Assembly main opposition party leader Rajiv Koirala, RPP Province-1 president Ram Thapa, Sanghiya Loktantrik Rashtriya Manch general-secretary Ashok Chemjong and Samajbadi Party Province-1 vice-president Raj Kumar Yadav have signed on the all-party consensus document.

Meanwhile, the Morang Trade Association and the Industry Organisation Morang have provided foodstuffs in aid of the economically vulnerable people in Biratnagr.

The two business organisations have provided foodstuffs worth Rs 2.4 million to be distributed to the poor families.
