Person convicted of rape sent to jail

UDAYPUR: The District Court Udaypur has sentenced a person to nine years in prison convicted of raping a woman with physical disabilities.

The district court has ordered him to provide a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim, according to court registrar Raj Kumar Acharya.

The predator is Bhim Bahadur Tamang, 43, of Triyuga municipality-16, Udyapur.

A bench of judge Manoj KC issued the verdict on a case dating back to May 26, 2019.

Police had earlier arrested the person following the complaint by the victim’s relatives.
