Constitution amendment based on need, relevance: Dahal



SIRAHA: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said his party and the government were ready to amend the constitution on the basis of need and relevance.

In a program organized on Thursday, Chairman Dahal said, “It is natural to ensure rights of the Madhesi and marginalized and ethnic communities. For this, the constitution would be amended.”

“We’re flexible on making the constitution dynamic and except for sovereignty, national independence and territorial integrity, all others issues could be amended in line with people’s demand and aspiration,” he added.

The Chairman asserted that he was shouldering the responsibility of delivering development and prosperity together with rights. He made a commitment to unite people from hills to plains and mountains.

According to the Chairman, the government was bringing a special package on developing roads, drinking water, health and education for the infrastructure development in Tarai/Madhes.

“Only NCP can fulfill the aspiration of the people,” he assured.

He chronicled the recent initiatives for the development as international airport of Tarai-Madhes, east-west railway, fast track construction, and establishment of industrial villages, medical college and university.
