CG will get telecommunication license only by paying Rs 20 billion: Minister Baskota



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota has requested billionaire businessman Binod Chaudhary to obtain a license for GSM mobile by paying Rs 20 billion.

Speaking at a press meet organized to make public Cabinet decision on Thursday, Minister Baskota maintained that CG Communications owned by Chaudhary will get the license only after paying the licensing amount determined by the law.

“The business that is being run by other companies by paying Rs 20 billion can be done by paying Rs 2.5 million. The license will be granted only if the company fulfills the requirements dully,” Minister Baskota said.

Saying that the government provided Rs 100-110 million to the company for operating rural telecommunication, Minister Baskota said that the company can’t be granted a unified license at Rs 2.5 million.

He maintained that legal procedures can’t be breached only the bases that he is a Nepali Congress lawmaker and a multi-billionaire businessman.
