JNU violence: Police register first FIR

NEW DELHI: Police on Monday registered the first FIR in connection with violence in Jawahar Lal University (JNU) on Sunday evening.

Indian media reports said several students were left injured after mob violence inside the JNU.

Around 23 injured students who were admitted to the hospital have been discharged.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been stepped up at JNU with massive deployment of security personnel.

Authorities have only allowed students with valid ID cards inside the campus.

A group of masked people, both men, and women armed with rods, sticks, and acid unleashed violence on the campus on Sunday evening.

The goons went about storming the campus, broke glasses, and rampaged through hostels and attacked students and teachers. (Agencies)
