Prachanda reiterates call for party unity

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has claimed that he has repeatedly urged Prime Minister KP Oli to keep the party unity intact.

Speaking to reports after an informal meeting of the party Secretariat at the party central office in Dhunbarahi today, Dahal claimed that he would continue to work to make sure that the party does not split.

“I have repeatedly called for party unity,” he said adding, “I urge PM Oli to work towards keeping the party unity intact,” he said.

He had called an informal meeting of the party Secretariat today in which Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal and party spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha were present.

Prachanda, who walked out frustrated from the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar after holding talks with Prime Minister Oli on Thursday, had said he would hold “serious talks” with the party Secretariat members today.

The NCP has reached a critical juncture of late owing to serious differences between NCP Chairman Dahal and Prime Minister Oli.

Dahal has been insisting that the Prime Minister needs to implement the decisions of the Standing Committee decision made previously.
