President Bhandari’s involvement in party activities unethical: Rawal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party(NCP) Standing Committee Member Bhim Rawal has dubbed President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s active involvement in party’s activties as ‘unethical and against the spirit of the Constitution’.

Expressing his views on social networking sites on Friday, NCP leader Rawal said any activities  or steps taken by the President towards resolving the intra-party dispute are unethical and against the dignity of the President as an institution.

“There are news that the President has been actively supporting a group in the party and trying to influence party activities,” NCP Standing Committee Member Rawal said in his his twitter message, adding, “If it is true such activity is against he dignity of the President, as an institution, the violation of established practices and also against the NCP’s directives on institutional governance.”

Earlier, amid widening rift in the ruling NCP, President Bhandari had called Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam to Shital Niwas and urged the latter to play an active role to resolve the NCP dispute as before.

Few months before, when the party was struggling through similar kind of conflict, President Bhandari had asked Gautam to ease the trouble PM Oli was facing.

This time, President Bhadari had called NCP Vice Chair Gautam on Tuesday and asked him to play an active role again to resolve the party conflict.

According to Gautam’s secretariat, Gautam has assured the President that he would play a role to resolve the crisis.
