KATHMANDU:  The intra-party differences have widened in the ruling Nepal Communist Party with heavy weights sticking to their respective stances.

The meeting which was scheduled for 5 pm yesterday was postponed for Thursday morning citing lack of preparations.

Holding a press meeting participated by over 100 journalists on Wednesday, Dahal-Nepal camp clarified that the intraparty struggle is not for mere power but to maintain rules and regulations in the party.

In the press meet, Pushpa Kamal Dahal accused that the reactionary forces are actively working to foil the party unity and fail the communist movement in Nepal, culminating in the current intra party feud in the NCP.

“Internal and external forces do not want to see a communist party united. They want to see it to have split and are actively working to foil the communist alliance in the country, of late,” said  Dahal.

On the other hand, Oli camp, in a program organized at a college Wednesday, accused the Nepal-Dahal camp to create division among leaders.

Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal are holding a meeting on Thursday, said Prime Minister Oli’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa.

The NCP intra-party feud has deepened further after the Oli and Dahal-Nepal camps did not budge away from their respective stances. The Dahal-Nepal camp has long been demanding Oli’s resignation at least from one of his posts.

On the other hand Oli wants to have a graceful exist by handing over the post of chairmanship through the general convention of the party and wants to the lead the government until term of the existing House of Representatives.

The Standing Committee meeting of the party has been deadlocked after several meetings between Oli and Dahal in the past ended without striking any chords.
