Kathmandu Valley reports 54 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley seems turning into a coronavirus hotspot lately as the Valley saw 54 new cases in the last 24 hours on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 54 samples tested at different labs in the Valley came out with COVID-19 positive result.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population shared that 10 cases from Bhaktapur, 23 from Kathmandu and 20 from Lalitpur are found coronavirus positive.

Their swabs were tested in Patan Hospital laboratory.

Similarly, one swab result of Maharajgunj based TU Teaching Hospital also showed a person from Kathmandu coronavirus positive.

The number of cases in the Valley is increasing remarkably after the loosening of the lockdown.

Although the lockdown is said to be effective till July 22, the crowds sans masks are noticed in the streets of Kathmandu.
