CCMC readies three modalities for easing lockdown

KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has finalized three different modalities to ease lockdown from June 15.

The draft has been submitted to Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa and Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi.

The CCMC, chaired by the Secretary to the Office of Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, works in four areas, including health, peace and security, supply and information, for the prevention and control of the coronavirus.

Among them, the army has been given the responsibility to lead in the field of peace and security.

The army has given priority for preparing modalities in easing the lockdown as it is a matter of peace and security.

The first modality mentions that the most important sectors are opened first and then the other every two weeks.

This modality was first proposed by the Army to the CCMC.

The second modality is based on the color zone. The situation of coronavirus infection across the country is said to be divided on the basis of color and loosening of the lockdown according to color.

It is proposed to divide the affected area into red, yellow and orange or amber colors. The most affected area will be termed as red, the affected as yellow and the least affected as amber or orange.

In the third modality proposed in the CCMC, it is mentioned that areas according to the need of the people will be opened. Urgently needed areas will be opened first and other later.

It is said that the Cabinet will decide on the issue next week.
