KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has flayed the government for ignoring the demands of senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC, warning that Prime Minister KP Oli must be responsible for any consequences to be invited by the strike.
Crusader for the reforms in the medical education sector, Dr Govinda KC has been staging a hunger strike for the last 22 days demanding implementation of the past agreements reached with the government.
Talking to Khabarhub, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said, “Prime Minister Oli must be responsible for any kinds of untoward consequences to be invited by the hunger strike.”
Leader Sharma stated that the government has turned deaf years to KC’s demands even though it has already entered the 22nd day.
Even though the government had decided to allocate 75 scholarships, not to let open medical colleges in the capital for at least 10 years and not to allow a university to grant affiliations to more than five medical colleges, it has not yet implemented these decisions reached with Dr KC in the past, said Sharma.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday urged the government to fulfill the demands of KC at the earliest.
