Death toll of Nepalis abroad due to coronavirus reaches 143



KATHMANDU: An additional of 13 Nepalis succumbed to coronavirus in abroad in the past week.

According to the Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), six more Nepalis have died in the UAE, five in India, one in Oman and one in Kuwait.

According to NRNA Health Committee Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota, 143 Nepalis in the foreign land have died of coronavirus infection in 14 countries till Saturday evening.

So far, Nepalis living in the UK, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands and Sweden, Oman and other countries have died due to coronavirus infection.

According to the committee, 28,918 Nepalis have been confirmed to be infected with coronavirus in abroad till Saturday evening while 25,226 of them have recovered.

In Nepal, COVID-19 caseload stands at 15,491 with 34 deaths.

According to NRNA, Nepalis in 37 countries around the world have been infected with the coronavirus so far.
