157 Nepalis at Sharjah Airport waiting to be airlifted



KATHMANDU: As many as 157 Nepali people are waiting at Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the flight to Nepal.

Stranded in the UAE for several days due to lockdown, they are awaiting at the airport to be airlifted.

A total of 157 Nepali people including 79 from Transguard Security, 67 from Izaza Company and 11 others who had gone to the UAE on visit visas returning home by the flight of Air Arabia which is scheduled to take off at 11:30 am, (according to local time).

According to sources, they are airlifted by an Air Arabia flight no. G9 1751.

According to Raj Kumar Chhetri, Spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the flight will land at the TIA at arouind 3:30 pm if is not delayed.

However, the flight is still not certain due to the lack of coordination with the Nepal government, said an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The coordination is underway with the Nepali Embassy in the UAE. The passengers have not undergone screening for the coronavirus.
