European countries evacuating their 1,100 citizens today



KATHMANDU: European countries including Germany and France are taking back their citizens stranded in Nepal today.

They are being airlifted on four different charted planes to their respective countries, informed Dhanajaya Regmi, executive officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NBT).

According to Regmi, over 1,100 citizens of European countries will fly back to their countries on two flights of Qatar Airways, one flight of Malindo Air of Sri Lanka and one that of Malaysian Airlines.

Those flying back home are from France, Germany, Czech Republic and Austria. While 179 out of the 303 seats in the airbus were French citizens, the rest 124 were from other countries.

The flight of Qatar Airways will fly to Paris via Doha transit while the Germany-bound will have 20 percent of passengers from other European countries.

Earlier, Germany had airlifted its citizens twice and France one on chartered flights.

Australia, the Netherlands and America have taken back their citizens on charted planes. Similarly, America and South Korea are airlifting their citizens on Sunday, too.
